My 4 year old boy absolutely loves cartoons and, when it comes to the likes of Tom & Jerry, Batfink, Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo, nothing beats YouTube.
As you are probably aware, YouTube XL is absolutely shocking, which is why I choose to access my playlists via the PlayStation’s web browser. Unfortunately this is a fairly clunky affair and due to some compatibility issues I can’t access all of YouTube’s features… such as the ability to watch a playlist from start to finish. I can assure you that this quickly becomes really irritating when cartoons can last as little as 5 minutes.
Thankfully, there is now a solution – YouTube’s own Playstation 3 app. However, if you are based outside of the USA you won’t be able to find it in your PSN store.
How to download the YouTube PS3 app (outside of the USA)
All you need to do is create a new PSN account and provide an American address. I used this one:
624 Washington Avenue, Montgomery, ALABAMA, 36130-0100.
Sign in to your newly created PSN account and you will be able to download the YouTube App from the Playstation Store. Once installed, it will show up under your Video menu on the PS3’s homescreen.
And yes, it will still be there when you switch back to your existing PSN account.
[…] After a bit of digging, it turns out that the YouTube app is only available for Playstation users in the USA. The question, therefore, is how do you access the US PSN store from elsewhere in the world? […]
