No sooner than I posted details of this Cyber Monday deal on the AVerMedia Game Capture HD, Amazon hit me with another e-mail regarding the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 gaming edition.
The HD PVR 2 is a more traditional capture card, in that it needs to be connected to your console and a computer, like so:
For me, this isn’t an option as my PS3 and computer sit at opposite ends of the house, which is why I went for the AVerMedia (and it’s in built storage). However, when I do get around to moving everything to a dedicated “technology room” I will invest in a more powerful capture card, such as the HD PVR 2.
But why upgrade?
It’s not that there is anything wrong with the AVerMedia: it has met my needs perfectly. However, the HD PVR 2 has it beat on two fronts:
1. It can record in full HD, where as the AVerMedia is limited to 720p; and
2. It has built in live streaming functionality.
HD PVR 2: A Cyber Monday exclusive!
