The Roxio Gamecap HD pro is one of the newest high definition capture cards to hit the market. In this “best capture card” post we compared it to the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition and the Elgato Game Capture HD.
In terms of specs, the Roxio Game Cap HD Pro does pretty well. It can record gaming footage at 30 fps in 1080i using the HDMI-in, or at 60fps in 1080i using the component-in. Unlike the other two cards we looked at, the Roxio also offers HDMI-out as well as component-out. Furthermore, it has built in support for live streaming and comes with its own software package, which will appeal to anyone who doesn’t want to (or can’t afford to) fork out for something like Sony Vegas Pro.

When you consider the price – only £115 – it is easy to understand why we chose the Roxio GameCap HD pro over the Elgato and the Hauppauge. US Shoppers get an even better deal, with the Roxio available for $115 which equates to £71!!
In the following video, the Roxio GameCap HD Pro was used to record footage from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The standard settings were used and no colour corrections have been applied:
