I like Hutch. I like Hutch a lot. Nothing to do with his man beard either – this is all down to his “how not to suck at sniping” video, which he posted early in 2010. Sadly I can’t find it or I’d post it here for you all to enjoy. If anyone can get their hands on it please feel free to throw a link in the comments!
At the time, I had just started playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and didn’t really know what to do, so his sniping tutorial is pointed me in the right direction. To this day, my play style is being super aggressive with a bolt action sniper rifle. It’s not great for k/d ratios but it is a lot of fun!
Anyway, to the topic of this post. This video popped up in my YouTube subscription box:
Hutch on Black Ops 2: first impressions
I’m liking the sound of this.
So Black Ops 2 is faster than the original not not quite as chaotic as Modern Warfare 3. I can live with that.
The action starts immediately. There is no dead period walking across a snowy mountain (MW2: Derail…) trying to find the enemy team at the start of a game. Definitely a good thing.
No idea on lag compensation as they played on LAN. Personally, I don’t mind lag compensation as it tends to work in my favour, given I’m in the UK and often play with US hosts. On the odd occasion where I pull host in a lobby full of US players, lag compensation is an absolute nightmare but it’s a rarity. My main concern is the hit detection. Black Ops 2 sniper bullets had a tendency to go missing which was a real pain in the ass at times.
Weapons seem balanced although, like Hutch, I don’t mind “overpowered” weapons as it gives me something to use when the connection is bad. Alternatively, I quite like using the weaker weapons as a bit of a challenge.
Finally, the points system sounds interesting. I’m not to fussed that the bigger point streaks are hard to get – they should be. Nukes were super easy in MW2 and MOABS aren’t all that tough if you put your try hard pants on.
So, onto the gameplay.
Hutch on Black Ops 2: gameplay footage
Yep. That’s a new game mode. Multi-teamdeathmatch. Is that one word? Two? Three? Who knows… but it sure looks like a lot of fun!
